Summer’s here and bees are making themselves known in gardens – and pub gardens – across the land. Fittingly, these stunning new macro images of the flying insects show the jaw-dropping diversity of species. These newly-released, pin-sharp images have been showcased this month (July) by the University of Texas at Austin. Their Insects Unlocked project is based in the UT insect collection at Brackenridge Field Laboratory, part of the Department of Integrative Biology. The United Kingdom alone has around 250 species of bee, including the leaf-cutter bee and sweat bee.
